Actuarial Audit Talk

ASM conducted a talk on Actuarial Audit today. Questor Ng, an actuary who works in Corporate Audit Services of ING gave a presentation on audit processes in insurance company, with particular reference to audit on actuarial functions.

The talk was held in Wisma AIG, due to the small room size, the number of participants was limited to 40. However, only about 30 plus members signed up for the event.

When asked about the most interesting and most frustrating parts of the job, Questor says for those who look for opportunity to travel and exposure to various actuarial techniques, the job is a rewarding one. However, auditors are not the most popular people in the organisation and they must be prepared to handle situations that sometimes can turn hostile.

Earlier this week, Questor also presented the same talk to some internal auditors of insurance companies in Malaysia. It was very well received and most internal auditors are now considering hiring actuaries or actuarial staff in their department. Who knows, TAS Search may be searching for actuarial audit staff pretty soon! Stay tuned.
