SAS LIA Life Protection Seminar
Singapore Actuarial Society (SAS) and Life Insurance Association of Singapore (LIA) held its first ever Life Protection Seminar at InterContinental Hotel on 20 August 2009. The seminar attracted over 120 participants mainly from life insurance companies from Singapore.
The 1-day seminar featured 6 presentations, 1 luncheon address by MAS and was rounded off with CEO Round Table discussions. Topics covered included underwriting, disability income, insurance adequacy, risk, financial crisis and capital management.

Inaugural SAS General Insurance Conference
The inaugural SAS General Insurance Conference kicked off today at Amara Hotel in Singapore. The theme of the conference is "A Firm Foundation for Taking Risk".
The 1.5 days event attracted close to 70 delegates. There are 12 sessions in total, featuring speakers from Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong.

SAS EGM, AGM and Dinner
Singapore Actuarial Society (SAS) held its AGM on 27 March 2009 and the following members were elected to the Council:President: Frank McInerney
Vice President: Rani Rajasingham
Honorary Treasurer: Timothy Beardsall
Honorary Secretary: Jill Hoffman
Council Members: Angela Koechli, Chi Cheng Hock, Colin Pakshong, Sharon Tan, Annette King and Walter de Oude.
The AGM was preceded by a talk on "Credit Derivatives" and EGM. The proposed changes to PS1 were approved at the EGM.
Close to 70 members attended the AGM dinner held at Restaurant 1827 Thai. Newly qualified fellows of SAS received their certificates from President during dinner, see photos below:
